The PECB Certified ISO 22000 Foundation training course provides essential knowledge on the principles of food safety management and a comprehensive overview of the ISO 22000 requirements


Participants in this training will gain insights into various components of a Food Safety Management System (FSMS) as outlined by ISO 22000, including the commitment of top management, the development of a food safety policy, maintaining an appropriate work environment, implementing operational controls, managing prerequisite programs (PRPs), ensuring traceability, controlling hazards, conducting performance evaluations, and pursuing continual improvement.  


Upon successfully completing the training course, participants must pass an examination to qualify for the “PECB Certificate Holder in ISO 22000 Foundation” certification. This internationally recognized credential from PECB not only affirms your professional skills but also demonstrates your capability to contribute effectively to the implementation of an FSMS in accordance with ISO 22000 standards.

  • Organizational Context: Factors and stakeholder expectations shaping food safety

  • Leadership and Commitment: Management’s role in building a strong food-safety culture

  • FSMS Planning: Addressing risks, identifying opportunities and establishing food-safety objectives


Section 2: Implementation & Evaluation Basics for Improving the Food Safety Management System - Clauses 4–10

  • Support: Strengthening competence, communication, resources and documented information

  • Operational Control: Applying prerequisite programmes, traceability and emergency-preparedness measures

  • Hazard Control: Understanding hazard analysis, critical control points and operational controls.

  • Performance Evaluation: Monitoring results through verification, internal audits and management reviews

  • Continual Improvement: Correcting weaknesses and continually enhancing the Food Safety Management System

Examination

ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System - Foundation

The PECB Certified ISO 22000 Foundation exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). It covers the following competency domains:

  • Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of food safety and food safety management systems

  • Domain 2: ISO 22000 requirements for a food safety management system – Clauses 4 to 10


After successfully completing the exam, you can apply for the credential PECB Certificate Holder in ISO 22000 Foundation.


The certificate requirements for the ISO 22000 Foundation are:

  • Pass the PECB ISO 22000 Foundation exam

  • Professional experience - None

  • MS audit/assessment experience - None

  • FSMS project experience - None

  • Other requirements - Signing the PECB Code of Ethics

  • In case of exam failure, the candidate can retake the exam once for free within 12 months of the initial exam date.

  • Registration and payment for this training course are prerequisites to participation.

  • Upon payment, you will receive an "Invitation to create a PECB account" from PECB (Professional Evaluation and Certification Board), the global accreditation body for this course of study. This will allow you to set up your account with the requisite pass codes for access to the learning portal.  

  • Once completed, your application will be processed within a maximum of two working days, after which you will receive notification by email confirming finalization of registration to access the portal and commence this course of study.
